Ohrid walking tour includes a visit and walk through historic part of the city, known as the Pearl of the Balkans, and added to the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Its monuments date from the ancient Paeonians (5th Century BC), the ancient city of Lychnidos (3rd Century BC), located by the famous Roman road, the Via Egnatia (2nd Century BC), as well as rich Byzantine heritage. The charming Old Town of Ohrid features St. Sophia Church (1036 AD), an Ancient Theater (3rd Century BC), St. Virgin Mary Perivleptos Church (1295 AD) with its amazing frescoes that include Renaissance motifs, Ohrid’s Gallery of Icons, Tsar Samuil’s Fortress (10th Century AD), Plaoshnik (893 AD) with the Saint Clement tomb and St. John Kaneo Church (13th Century AD). After the pleasant walk around the old part of the city, the tour finishes at the Old Marketplace and the Chinar – one of the oldest trees in the Balkans. In the Old Bazaar, among picturesque old architecture, there is an opportunity to buy from Ohrid’s traditional pearl and hand-made filigree jewelry.
