Description

The tour includes an exciting journey through historic part of the city known as the Pearl of the Balkans, and inscribed on the UNESCO’ World Heritage List. Its monuments date from the ancient Paeonians and the ancient city of Lychnidos located by the famous Roman road Via Egnatia, as well as rich Byzantine heritage. You are going to visit in the charming Old Town St. Sophia church, an Ancient Theater, St. Virgin Mary Perivleptos church with its amazing frescoes that include Renaissance motifs, Ohrid’s Gallery of Icons, Tsar Samuil’s Fortress, Plaoshnik with the St. Clement tomb and St. John Kaneo church. After the pleasant walk around the historical district, the tour finishes at the Old Marketplace and the Chinar – one of the oldest trees in the Balkans. In the Old Bazaar, among picturesque old architecture, there is an opportunity to buy the Ohrid’s traditional pearls and hand-made filigree jewelry.
